About

Now Mr. Pom, with his new family at AIDS

Traci's Paws is committed to keeping pets in their loving homes. Our mission is clear: Supporting Rescue Organizations and Shelters, but most importantly, providing families in need with pet food, essential supplies, and free veterinary care, so their pets will never even need to enter the shelter system. We believe in giving pets a second chance at life and promoting the humane treatment of all animals.

With the support of our dedicated volunteers and donors, we work tirelessly to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the lives of pets and their owners, particularly in military, veteran, and underserved communities.

Traci's Paws aims to keep pets in their homes through our Pet Food and Free Veterinary Care Funds, as well as assisting with pet adoption, fostering, and promoting spay and neuter programs to reduce overcrowding in shelters & unnecessary euthanasia.

Traci's Paws thrives on the generosity of our wonderful donors.

Our Mission

Traci's Paws is dedicated to helping rescue organizations and families with their pets. By promoting pet adoption, fostering, and humane education, and by providing pet food, essential supplies, and free veterinary care to the military, veteran, and underserved communities, we can keep pets in their homes and out of shelters, preventing pet overpopulation and ending unnecessary euthanasia.

Our Founder

Founder Traci Wilkerson Steckel with Spo

Traci Wilkerson Steckel, a native Texan and former educator, has had a love for animals from the day she was born. Of course, her parents and grandparents might say they had a little something to do with this, too!

Living out in the country, in the small Texas town of Devine, her family experienced many discarded pets "dumped" on their property. Wilkerson grew up taking in these pets as her own, as she did with many animals throughout her adulthood, given to her by friends, her vet, and colleagues from a school where she taught First Grade.

The passion for saving these pets' lives and the love instilled by her family gave her the initiative to do more for pets across the country.

What began as a simple Facebook Page to share pets on borrowed time in shelters and rescues, Traci's Paws grew into something greater: an incorporated, first-of-its-kind 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego, CA.
